About Me

Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Language Science and Technology (LST) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). As a speech therapist and clinical educator, my work bridges the gap between academic theory and frontline clinical practice in speech and hearing sciences.
With a background that spans public hospitals, non-governmental organizations, special schools, and private practice, I have experience providing services to clients with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. Early in my career, I specialized in aural rehabilitation for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults, as well as supporting children with intellectual disabilities.

Teaching & Clinical Education

My primary focus at PolyU is on clinical speech therapy education and Problem-Based Learning (PBL), where I supervise student speech therapists during their clinical practicums. I am passionate about mentoring students to develop not only their technical competencies but also their clinical reasoning and patient empathy. Prior to joining PolyU, I served as a clinical educator at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), and I regularly deliver lectures on deaf and hard-of-hearing , language disorders, and the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing.

Applied Research

While my primary mandate is pedagogical and clinical, I am also engaged in applied research that directly informs practice. My recent research focuses on the lived experiences of deaf and hard-of-hearing adults navigating different communication modes. I also explore corpus linguistics, Cantonese syntax & vocabulary acquisition in children.
